This gilt bronze centrepiece is a wonderful example of the early 19th Century surtout de table production in France. The cylindrical plinth is adorned with garlands and serves as a support for the figures of three dancing bacchantes holding hands and grape wreaths. Over their head lays a circular and partially pierced basket adorned with grape motifs. Based on clear similarities, the work can be attributed to Philippe Thomire or his French workshop.
